We went to Glenfiddich Distillery, famous for its triangular green bottles.
You can get there from Dufftown, the town said to be the home of whisky.
The shop staff were really friendly, and it was fun getting to chat with them so much.

Features of the Distillery
Founded in 1887 by William Grant. Because it sits in the valley of the River Fiddich, it’s called Glenfiddich (“valley of the deer”).
At first it was used for blends such as Grant’s; it was released as a single malt in 1963.
The pot stills come in three shapes: ball, straight, and lantern head.
Heating is by direct gas fire, with steam heating used in part. The mash tuns are stainless steel (two of them), the washbacks are Douglas fir (32 of them), and there are 11 wash stills and 20 spirit stills — the most in Scotland.
Its annual output of 13.7 million liters is also the largest in Scotland.
As with Springbank, Bruichladdich, and Glen Grant, the water added before bottling is the same as the mashing water.
The pot stills were originally secondhand ones from Lagavulin and Glen Albyn.
Glenfiddich’s sister distillery is The Balvenie, which uses almost the same yeast and mashing water.
Glenfiddich is one of the malts in Monkey Shoulder, and it’s the number-one selling single malt.
Getting There / Access
From Elgin, take the bus bound for Dufftown; it’s about a 40-minute ride.
From the town of Dufftown, it’s about a 20-minute walk.

The Distillery’s Exterior
When you think of Glenfiddich, you think of the green triangular bottle.
They were arranged like a Christmas tree — lovely.
The Tour We Joined
We checked in at the visitor center and joined the tour.
What surprised us most was that the stills were paired up, one to two.
The grounds were also very spacious.
For the final tasting, we had four kinds.

Shop and Restaurant
The shop was a very large, relaxed space too.
There were plenty of pricey items, but it had a cool atmosphere.
The shop staff were lovely, and we got to talk about whisky at length.
We went to the restaurant and had whisky and a meal.
It was an incredibly relaxing space.
Summary
As you’d expect from the famous and popular Glenfiddich Distillery.
Both the restaurant and the shop were spacious and relaxing.
Funnily enough, we ran into the tour guide from The Balvenie, which we’d visited the day before — and our details had clearly been passed along! lol
