We stayed in a town called Perth in the Highland area of Scotland, and from there took a bus to Aberfeldy Distillery.
It’s known as Dewar’s key malt, but I myself had never had Aberfeldy single malt, and since it’s a whisky Nick loves, we joined a slightly pricier tour.
We got to enjoy an utterly indulgent whisky tasting flight at a leisurely pace.

Features of the Distillery
Established in 1896, it’s the key malt for Dewar’s.
In 1972 it doubled the number of stills, greatly increasing production.
The mashing water comes from the Pitilie Burn, which flows right beside the distillery; this burn was once used by the Pitilie distillery too — high-quality water perfect for making spirits.
The Pitilie Burn is also famous for containing gold dust, and from this, Aberfeldy’s whisky is described as “the golden dram.”
The flavor is characterized by fruity and spicy notes.
Getting There / Access
We could get there with a single bus from the town of Perth.
We went in early December, and perhaps because the altitude is a little high, there was some snow on the ground.

The Distillery’s Exterior
Heading in from a slightly wide road, there was the shop.
The Tour We Joined
First there’s a museum next to the shop, and we took our time going around it.
The guide didn’t come for a while, so the participants were murmuring, wondering if that was the end of it! lol
Of course it wasn’t, and they showed us around inside the distillery.
We couldn’t take photos inside the distillery, so there are none.
At the end, we had whisky in a cool tasting room.
There were several tours, and we’d signed up for the one with lots of tasting, so at the end of that same tour they took us to the shop for an additional whisky tasting.
This tasting flight was truly indulgent! I came to love the taste of Aberfeldy.

Shop, Cafe and Bar
The shop, cafe, and bar are all together, so we could relax.
We looked at other whiskies at the bar too and had a great time.
Summary
Since it’s not that far from Glasgow, and it’s a very famous distillery, there were a lot of participants.
It’s a whisky I don’t want to become popular — one I’d rather quietly root for! lol
I’d really love you to enjoy the experience at the distillery too.
