Benromach Distillery is about a 20-minute walk from the town of Forres.
We thought we’d booked the tour, but… we’re not sure what happened, and the staff who were there kindly took care of us and showed us around inside.
Here’s a look at our visit.

Features of the Distillery
Founded in Forres in 1898.
After repeated periods of operation and closure, production resumed once Gordon & MacPhail bought it in 1998.
It has four washbacks made of Scottish larch, and only two pot stills — the smallest in Speyside; maturation uses bourbon and sherry casks.
It’s characterized by spicy, fruity notes.
Location/ Access
About a 20-minute walk from Forres station.
The map routes you the long way around, but taking the narrow road on the north side gets you there a bit faster (we were told this at the distillery).

The Distillery’s Exterior

This red had a really cool feel to it.
The site is large too, and it was fun how they’ve made paths out of casks.

They showed us each of the different areas.
The space that felt like a secret room was lovely too.

Shop and Bar
Next to the shop, we could sit down and take our time with a tasting.
Summary
The guide showed us around in a really friendly way, and it was fun.
It was great to see so many historic bottles too.
